You'd think an item that triggers a time-based evolution would be more commonplace in a region about day-night cycles.

Sharpedo is also really rare in Alola for some reason. Like the best way to get is to wait for the special bubbles to appear over the one fishing spot you can get it from for a 10% chance. If you don't find it you might as well just reload the area because it's a 1% encounter otherwise.

i remember having to do this as a teen to fill the sumo pokedex

Made a living Dex for Sun this was the worst to get by far. Best strat I can suggest is compound eyes + thief (Absol: thief, nightshade, thunderwave and any damaging move) and SOS battle until you find a Kommo-o, which has a 50% chance of holding a razor claw. Still took like five hours 🙃

Another way to get Razor Claw is by having a Pokémon that knows Thief and do SOS chains on Jangmo-o.

I dont understand why they make it so difficult to get these items, like the one to evolve Gligar

If they did forget it, and it was impossible to put it in an area last minute, why would they put it on a Pokemon that isn't Sneasel, has a 5% encounter and a 5% chance to hold the item unless you this specific ability which you probably wouldn't know had this effect? It's not my fault they forgot, why are they treating me like it is?

i remember the pain to complete the alola dex

At least it's available in the main story unlike in X and Y where it's a 48 bp Battle Maison reward, same with the razor fang in the same game

So if you want to complete your regional Pokedex in X and Y, you have to either grind the Battle Maison or import one from Oras, which isn't much better because it's only in two of the Mirage Forests

Weavile always has been an extemely hard to get and late game mon,
in diamond/pearl and B2W2 the claw is obtainable only after the last gym,
in BW and XY its post game,
in platinum there is a hidden claw in the room where you fight cyrus,
In SS and SV there are static weavile ecounters BUT the static weavile in SS needs the water bije and for it to snow,
and in SV there is a level 40 weavile by the tower on the east part of the glaseado mountain.

I did this when I was like 11 and it wasn't that tedious, although I did get a shiny so I might be biased

I remember doing this for the dex back in the day! I actually found a shiny Lycanroc while looking for a Jangmo-o to sos for the item! XD

I remember randomly finding a shiny sneasel in pokemon moon and my gosh it was so hard to evolve it…

isnt razor claw single use? that means if you used fling or get hit with covet/knock off/thief once that shi is gone forever....
