Dude I literally just finished writing a script on what an engineering students typical day/schedule is like haha. You went into way more detail than I did, good job!

Your voice alone tells us you studied engineering

1. hard classes throughout all years - be prepared to work hard
2. time - you're required to complete more credits over 4 or 5 years compared to other majors - have to dedicate plenty of time outside of class to finish work
3. math overload - most courses are math-based
4. homework load - multiple labs, studying, other hw's required each week
5. limited flexibility - can't take as many free electives as you'd like
6. curves - usually a curve for exams & hw's
7. group projects - emulate small engineering teams of 4-5 people; provide great support
8. extracurriculars - engineering provides an outlet to learn/experience more outside of class through activities like robotics
9. support from other engineers - older students tend to give you their old papers, hw's, & projects as well as advice for better professors when you network with them
10. respect - people understand hard word & dedication you put into your education & career which can give you pride & satisfaction

Im currently a 22 year old, 5 years out of high school, I recently applied to a community college for engineering, my math skills are not high, at all, so much that I have to take a math refresher course my first year, I don't know too much about math, I was never a math whiz in high school either, I was a real slacker, But as ive grown more into an adult and ive been realizing more and more on how much math interests me, as of right now I have so much determination to make my life better into doing what I actually wanna do, instead of working a full time job as a warehouse worker, I am expecting major struggle through college, But I am prepared for a life change, lol I don't know if anyone will see this comment, But thanks for these tips, It just makes me more determined to do this.

My son is a mechanical engineer finishing his second doctorate! It was interesting raising him; creative, artistic and curious!

Wow, you really made engineering look horrible.
Im still gonna go with Civil engineering anyway.

Was not a good student in high school and decided to go for engineering anyway. Currently on year 4 finishing up calc 3 and chem 2. Can’t wait to actually get into more engineering related classes! (ME major)

Sophomore EE major here. Can relate that engineering is TOUGH. Freshman year was nothing. Sophomore year hit me like a train. Taking differential equations and physics 2 + lab+other courses...crazy! Plus I’m in a research project that takes my time. Even now I have a test next week and im procrastinating studying watching this video lol. Engineering is rough but gonna be worth it. Great video!

I'm a mechanical engineer major. I had to decide which homework I was going to do sometimes my senior year because I had much homework.
LOL. relax on the lawn. HAHAHA!
With that being said, I finished in 4 years with a 3.8 GPA and a minor in math.

As a first year eng student what I’ve already learned the most is it’s way more important to be determined going in than being smart going in

I've decided to go back to school and get my degree in mechanical engineering. I've no idea where to start so I am soaking up every bit of information and ran across your channel. Love how much energy you put into these! Great work. I'd be excited to be half of the engineering influence you are.

Entering my sophomore year as a mechanical engineering major this year. This information is incredibly accurate. Great advice!

When you’re introverted and get excited hearing all the isolated studying needed crush every class especially math.

Thanks for sharing this video. Just finished my first year studying Computer Engineering. Was just browsing for inspirational videos and advice so that I am prepared for the years to come.

Dam, you had the same experience as me with the calc 2 stuff. Literally retook calc 1, 2 multiple times, BUT i stuck through and passed everything and now taking my major courses in the fall!

He is right about time management. I love working out and spend my weekends with my boyriend (studying lol). Time management is key. I am double majoring in Applied Mathematics and Biomedical Engineer 🙅

Awesome tips, 100% same experiences here.
Slight exception:
The first time I took Fluid Mechanics (6th semester), a new Post Doc lectured and used a fixed washout curve, 100% to 70% (A-F). Be aware of your schools guidleines on Grade Curves and what acceptable flexibility lecturers have!

I'm a freshman in Civil and I failed 3 tests. Felt a bit depressed but now that I've watched the video, I feel good. Him going from bad points to good felt like going from the struggle to the reward..
