For the first question, he used the product rule to integrate the function, cancelled out the like terms x^3, and then found the limit of that integrated function as a approaches infinity. 0 is the lower bound and a is the upper bound. The constant +C will be cancelled out when subtracting the upper bound expression from the lower bound expression.
