You’re mixing up auto pilot, which is in production, while FSD is beta.

Autopilot IS safer than human drivers. Full Self Driving is in beta testing. Two different products, one lame reporter...but then, ...he is Jeff's boy, better heel if you want that check.

"It felt more like babysitting than driving." - Exactly, because that's the whole point of the beta. You're supposed to be babysitting the car. You're also only supposed to be operating the beta as vetted driver, and the owner of the car should have explained that to you.

They showed a lot of clips of FSD beta messing up/being jerky, which is fine, because currently that does happen. But they also should have shown clips of it handling complicated maneuvers. There are countless examples of that on the internet. Obviously, FSD beta is not good enough yet but this is what the path to true FSD looks like. It will be subpar before it's good enough to replace humans. And keep in mind, Tesla is the ONLY company that is perusing a GENERAL solution to FSD, which means Tesla FSD should not be limited to certain towns that are pre-mapped in the system. There is no pre-mapping with Tesla. Every visualization you see on the screen is generated in real time. This is not exactly the case with other FSD companies. Ofcourse, all FSD systems map other cars/pedestrians in real time, but lane lines, curbs and cross walks are all pre-mapped in other systems. This makes them very brittle.

Washington Post - what HW version is the CAR ? what Software version are you using. ?
did you install the LATEST FSD beta 10.10 suite ?
this seems like a FUD Story and FAKE NEWS.
there are Plenty of Examples with FSD beta Driving with ZERO Interventions and ZERO Disengagements.

I don't buy for 1 second the wild steering at 0:49. The slightest resistance on the wheel automatically disengages the AutoPilot.

I've NEVER been unable to regain control of the car.

much more fair than cnbs. Being on beta for a year I have seen it do some amazing things and some dumb things. Its why its in BETA and not a full release. I tried to test out every other companies version of "fsd" (for cars I can actually buy) and zero had this level of tech even available.l, and EVERY SINGLE ONE would run through red lights and stop signs. Tesla is in a league of their own.

Please tell me how you came up with your data. I’ve been watching this for years and it’s gotten nothing but better. I wanna know how you’re coming up with such a negative you point.

This was a much better balanced short form reporting than the recent CNBC video.

Curious to see how Tesla's FSDs would fare on different countries with varying roads

2:30 what?! Look at the screen! Only the cruise control is active not the lane keeping! The driver has the hands on the wheel and is shaking it like this. This was not the car!

At 1:21 you can see how it would look (in that software version) if the car was fully controlling speed and steering: Two blue circles.

Just so you know the Tesla community is watching this dissecting it chewing it up and spitting it out where's the positive stuff it is FSD beta it's better than your 16 year old driving and you take over at any time look at the accident reports and death reports for FSD beta versus regular drivers with the same amount of miles you'll find a vast difference company is very transparent as far as I've seen no deaths for FSD beta and only a couple accidents where the driver should have took over because it's what they signed up for the collisions could have been avoided I suggest you watch Dave Lee's take on this video he has a lot of good points with the incremental improvements the FSD paid us getting every month we should have close to collapse by the end of the year and that's taking at least 5 to 10 times better than a human driver which is a pretty low bar and then in the next 5 years it should be a hundred times to 200 times better than a human driver and wonder why they're allowing people to drive still on the roads

In the future cars will have license not the drivers!

We have a lot of super short entrance ramps to the highways on Long Island. Most of the time you have to stop and wait for an opening and go for it. Would a self driving car sit there for hours and hours waiting for the safest time to merge in? Or would it go for it at some point?

So Faiz DOES know the difference between Autopilot and FSD. Now go back to his hit pieces over the past two years and see the conflation that must be purposeful.

Two years ago FSD was not a good as it is now. This story focuses on edge cases but mostly ignores the good ones.

You are training the machine learning model.
Don't be afraid of what the AI can do. Be afraid of what it WILL be able to do.
