Many theists have no understanding that "having a beginning" isn't the same as "having a creator." Things begin all the time without any agency at work. Sometimes events simply coalesce, such as when plants sprout from the ground or when stars ignite in stellar nurseries. When conditions are right change begins. Does every snowflake in a blizzard have to be individually made by angels sitting in the clouds, or does natural processes explain it?

The expansion of the universe from the singularity began 13.8 billion years ago. That is what is meant by the age of the universe. There is no proposed age for the singularity nor any reason to think it could be created.

The something from nothing rubbish not only begs the question and is an appeal claiming knowledge from ignorance, it also has no explanatory value that solves the purported problem. Your god idea, just made your beginning process one level more complicated. What is in effect being said is: I don't know how the universe came into being, therefore 'God'!

They wouldn't even have a big bang theory to argue about without science. If science went past the big bang, then religion would just go further back to something we don't know about, in order to unnecessarily inject their ideas of a creator as a solution. This is delusional behavior primed by a fear of death. They just want their dreams of a great place to go when we die. Sadly this makes them really easy to manipulate now.
