The spoons are clearly necessary for producing and mounting cello chin rests

What happened to the strings on the violin he's working on? Looks like it has four strings until it gets to left hand... then they never connect to the tailpiece!

“We don’t use spoons for violin repair” “Every good violin maker has six fingers” “He looks a bit like Santa Claus on a day off” this is great haha

You probably have all the tools and skills to make some very nice carved wooden spoons. You may just need to pick up a spoon carving knife.

I would hang an air powered impact tool on the back wall, and perhaps a floor jack.

Bro just from the thumbnail I can see the AI violin maker turning a string into a bow

A fun video indeed, thanks Olaf! will be interesting to repeat this experiment once a year, to check up on AI advancements…

The spoons killed me when I saw this in your community post. 😂

2:58 the "cello with a chinrest" appears to have f-holes done by Da Salò though! Not bad, not bad... ;)

TwoSet just uploaded a vid, Olaf - a quiz testing their violin knowledge & thanks to your channel, I could answer many of the questions. They're wondering whether to do a part 2. I suggest you do a collab & expound their responses. Maybe even do a reaction vid to today's. I mean where did lion head scrolls come into the picture? And why is the the Italian War associated with the oldest existing use of the Italian term for violin?

Where in the world did you find the picture @6:41, of the luthier with six fingers?

I laughed at spoons so hard. And then remembered that I keep a wooden kitchen spatula near my tools for about a year now because I wanted to try making a violin bridge out of it but never had time to do that

Because of this video, every violin maker in Italy will now go through genetic mutation processes to grow an extra finger to be the next Stradivarius

I think the "tool" he's holding is a piece of a bow, something AI would see next to a hand.

Now we know about Stradivarius! Thanks, Olaf!

Hi Olaf, QUESTION (not about AI) why do you trim the kidneys on the bridge? I've seen you do that a couple of times, but I don't know what that action does to the violin.
Please explain it sometime unless you think it is a stupid question.

I love the adorable cheerful anthropomorphic cello bridge standing on the bench behind your right shoulder! Did you place it there specially for this video?)

Love the Dark Side of the Moon T shirt. Pink Floyd's best album imo.

I think there are a bunch of dysmorphic bows that you overlooked. I think he is probably holding a tiny bow in his 6 fingered hand, bringing a new interpretation of “sawing away on the violin”. On the wall at the left side, i think those are a series of bows hanging, but they end up being wooden sticks. You also overlooked the metronome rising up from the bowl of wood shavings….
