"Pastured Poultry Production and Profitability" covers the basics of pastured poultry production as well as common advantages and pitfalls of getting started in the business and keys to keeping operations profitable.

It was offered by the National Center for Appropriate Technology (NCAT), Montana Mission Mountain Food and Cooperative Development Center, and Salish Kootenai College as part of the USDA Risk Management Agency (RMA) education and community outreach program.

It also announced a Montana-based pastured poultry production and marketing workshop series set to begin in March.

NCAT Sustainable Poultry Specialist Terrell "Spence" Spencer will be the webinar presenter.

While this webinar will kick off the Montana-based project, it is open to anyone interested in pastured poultry production. The webinar will provide a financial analysis of this type of farming based on the records and experience of a medium-size pastured poultry farm.

Thank you so much for this webinar. I have 6 months left in the Marine Corps, didn't grow up around farms at all, and will be starting my own grass based sustainable farm in Ohio!

You just confirmed what I suspected about the "vegetarian fed" chickens in the market. I avoid them!  Not ready to start slaughtering my own chickens yet, just doing eggs. This was a very good, and informative webinar, even if it is over a year old.

You could offer those chicken backs to home stock and broth makers. I know I would buy them for that very purpse and many folks are getting back doing that across the country. Thanks for all the great info.

Can't believe the processing costs.  How can they sell a chicken for $4.50 with those processing costs. I get the other costs are different but it should cost the same to process, right? This was very informative. Thanks!  Janice

There is no way you should spend two hours explaining it
