Honestly, it is logical. I ride mtb 20 years now and I am no corner-master but it is safer to stay on the pedals. I bought a kawasaki kxf not so long ago and same thing guys.

My first bike Dad took the seat off and said learn to ride and balance on pegs. Best way to learn.

Lots of variables. Depends on the corner, rut(s), dirt/soil, moisture, slope, speed, bike, balance, ability, etc.

Yup. Feet on pegs and good shoulder pads….

I started running at least 10 laps with feet on the pegs before start running the track hard with my race pace. It meshed my mind and body with the bike and improved my lean angle and leg placement when I do wanna stretch that foot out.
I squeeze more confidently.
I don't feel squirrely now and use that throttle to keep myself up!
Good content bro!

Centrifugal force is an amazing thing.

It’s hard to break a habit of over 20 years I started riding in the early 90s and everyone was leg out even the pros. I can understand the logic tho.

I always thought foot out in smooth, slick corners and foot on peg if theres rocks, ruts, bumps, etc... Im sure it comes down to rider preference, and almost sure to potentially get more leg injuries if you stick your foot out.

Its a good tip because most motocross tracks become very rutty...for many reasons....im so glad this guy is teaching mx....theres a lot of little things u should know about riding with real long travel suspension race bikes took me years to figure out on my own...i went road racing first...so i was in the habit of keeping my feet up...but i used to ride some 55 to 70 hours a week when school was out for summer...an 35 hours a week while in school after it...u get superior balance when u sleep on ur motorcycle...jk

Agree I used to use my body but when I hit the throttle it so much smoother

Hmm? Why does Roczen, Barcia, Tomac, Bubba, Craig etc. all put their feet out?

I used to be on a team with a guy who would corner like that, I never took long for someone to either take him out with a block or just being flat out faster.
If you can make it work good for you, but there's a reason the best riders have been doing since the 70's and it has nothing to do with "feeling as if were going to fall".
You're on a dirt bike, it's not if you're going to fall but when and how bad.

Actually one of the biggest things that helped me ride better was i was able an comfortable on any big teaching...tool was learning how the bike reacted on all surfaces....i used ride near a river on river rocks too snow...never ice...ok i lied

Variables. A few pro guys start doing it routinely and next thing ya know it’s all over tiktok and you’re trying to teach your 7 year old son “idc if your foot is dragging through that rut and you broke it! FOOT ON PEGS!”

I don’t agree having your foot out an ahead helps with traction and when you spin out and your foot is out it’s an instant dab save and your race continues ! If you spin out and tip over your now in last place 🤷🏻‍♂️

Here is the Harsh Reality... all the lessons in the world will never make a slow rider catch the rest of us... Sorry, but that's life. Enjoy. :)
