Actress and daughter to Aled Jones, Emilia never rated her singing ability, didn’t know how to use sign language and speaks with an English accent, but watching her in her latest role you would never have known. The 19-year old plays Massachusetts-born Ruby Rossi in the heartwarming coming-of-age film ‘CODA’. The only hearing member of a Deaf family, Ruby dreams of leaving the family fishing business to pursue her passion for singing. Emilia joins us to reveal what it’s like to be named Vogue’s 2022 breakthrough star, not taking singing advice from her dad and working with Succession’s Greg on her next project.

I can’t believe she never had a singing lesson. When she sang Both Sides Now, as a 50+ male, I cried.

An English woman never fished? She is from an island!

Loved her and the movie! To me she looked like she knew sign language but I don't know it. Very moving and great singer too
