The difference is
Upstate NY = live in nature, relax
NY city = work

Great video, I get so tired of people thinking NY is only NYC.

I started off living in Westchester county but made the move to Saratoga county. I wanted to be closer to the Adirondacks and I love downtown Saratoga. Plus, I love the fact I’m only 3.5 hrs from NYC, 3 hrs to Boston, 4 to Portland, and I’m right next door to Vermont. I do miss the city but I happier with the mountains close by.

Interesting video! I lived in Upstate New York for 14 years (Rochester and Syracuse). Both areas were great, but I LOVED the area surrounding it, especially the finger lakes area.

Having more billionaires and rich people shouldn't be reasons for being proud of NYC, on the contrary, they are the reason of insane prices and a limited way of living for middle class...

I feel like upstate is so underrated and nyc is overrated no one will ever appreciate us upstaters

I've lived in upstate NY (Oneida county and Monroe county) but I've been to NYC many times now. I feel like the primary difference is that upstate is a place of stability and NYC is a place of extremes. Both have their strengths and weaknesses and appeal to different types of people.

Grew up in Western New York and I just have to say that while Buffalo & Rochester might not have the skyscrapers that NYC does, both of those cities are architectural gems. Buffalo by itself has 180 buildings listed on national register of historic places, it's city hall is one of the largest art deco public buildings in the entire United States, and it has the most Frank Lloyd Wright designed buildings outside of Chicago. When you add Rochester with another art deco masterpiece known as the Times Square Building (with its topper called "The Wings of Progress") there are some truly fantastic architectural landmarks
