Things to remember:
1. 10-minute station (January 2023)
2. Don't forget to assess the anal area prior to inserting the suppository (criteria number 8)
3. Don't forget to check your equipment especially the prescribed medication ( Glycerol- expiry etc)
4. What you saw on this video might not necessarily reflect the actual examination
5. BLUNT NoT the pointed part of the suppository. Rationale- promotes retention of the suppository
6. You might just verbalise that you need an incontinence pad and bedpan (criteria 2 and 5). Please listen to your assessor's instructions
7. Criteria number 4- the manikin should not be moved. Please listen to your assessor's instructions
8. Complete your documentation!

I am confused. Which end is the right way to insert? Blunt or the pointed end?

We also need to inform the patient that there maybe some discharge as medicine melts in the rectum. Also, based on my understanding we should insert the correct tip of the suppository with the narrow end?? Correct me if I am wrong, Thank you.

the incorrect side of the suppository is inserted. This could be painful for the patient. The pointed side should be inserted first unless instructed otherwise
