Great video. I’m enjoying your book as well. I hoped it would cover the confusing topic of shoe rotation. YouTube is a black hole when it comes to running shoe reviews, and all of the popular reviewers recommend different shoes for a runner’s rotation (everyday trainer, recovery run, speed day, marathon, etc) but none of them ever seem to get injured by switching shoes so often. Because I’m a marketer’s dream, I’ve ended up with a good number of different shoes and have enjoyed the experience of trying the unique feel they provide underfoot. However as a 56 year old, I’ve also suffered a LOT of calf strains, which stops me running far too frequently. That’s why I bought your book. Anyway, a video on the pros and cons of shoe rotation would be great. Keep up the good work.

Very helpful (and money-saving) advice! I like Saucony Kinvaras for most of my runs as it’s a lightweight daily trainer good for both my easy and uptempo runs, with 4 mm drop, good ground feel, and ample toebox.

Curious, is there any truth to the claim that rotating running shoes day-to-day reduces injury risk by varying the stress?

Doesn’t the presence of a rocker (load on hips, knees) vs. no rocker (load on feet, ankles) affect load distribution to an even greater extent than heel-to-toe offset? Especially because the offset is highly dynamic (changes through the gait cycle) with many of the modern, softer foams

My takeaway from this video, as someone with a bit of runner's knee recently, is that stability shoes won't necessarily benefit, but a lower heel-drop could?
