I made this recipe and it was AMAZING!!! Only 1 modification which I strongly suggest: CUT THE CUPS OF POWDERED SUGAR BY 50%. I have a sweet tooth, and 3 cups was more than enough sugar, in fact when i make this again I am going to taste test at 2.5 cups. Other than that- perfect recipe and straight forward for a novice like me.

I used to make the spice cake from the box when I was younger and remember liking it. I can only imagine how good this homemade cake tastes. I want to make this. I love anything with cinnamon and love all these spices in this.

I am glad you clarified the use of oil in this recipe, I feel like I never want the make a cake without butter due to flavor but I once refrigerated a pound cake and it turned so hard. Lol. It still tasted good but everyone else in the house kept complaining about it being hard.

I just discovered this video December 2023! I am making it for Christmas Eve with family coming over for desert! It smells good! I am making it a day in advance and will keep it in the refrigerator. I also found your recipe for the perfect Turkey!

So I made this for Thanksgiving, John was such a lifesaver for me by his advice of using the scale for measuring. This cake was so good, but the frosting is super sweet. Next time I bake this I'm going to do 4 cups of powder sugar compared to the 6 cups the recipes calls for. I'm hoping that does not change the consistency of the frosting too much. Anyway, great fall recipe for family and friends 😋
