This is what happens when greedy cities keep overdeveloping, covering over the land and leaving nowhere for the water to drain.

New homes built in areas that flood intermittently. Poor drainage planning. Local governments liable for greedily approving inappropriate development. People moving from outside who have no clue about FL, summer rain, drainage, and tropical storms.

First time we’ve ever had houses in that area that’s why you’ve never seen it

That is Lakewood Ranch a poorly constructed neighborhood on a golf course. I expect many of the houses are insured and now we all have to pay. It is ridiculous. The amount of construction that was built in Florida improperly in the past 40 years.

I'm a car dealer and if a car is flooded the title is rebuilt but it has to pass an inspection. It's against the law to advertise a car without disclosing it has a rebuilt title!

So sorry for the homeowners. Pray everyone is safe. This looks like a fairly new built area.

this may not be last one for this year. The hurricane season is barely 2 months old. We have another 4 or 5 more months to go.

This has been predictable for a very long time...I knew decades ago, as a child when I first visited family in Delray Beach & Miami. Later I visited St. Petersburg and Ft. Meyers...I remember my family talking about future flooding of Florida. I was there in the Hey Day of Cypress Gardens and loved the ski shows. I also lived in New Orleans...and grew up in Houston on the Bayou. The Water is Rising. I ceased flying when Iraq war began...now car free in the San Francico Bay area for almost a decade...so easy/pleasant to travel by E bikes/mass public transit. We have Ferry, BART, Caltrans, Amtrak, great bus service, light rails in Sacramento and the Sonoma Marin Area Rapid Transit (SMART train). Bikes are allowed on all of these forms of mass public transit. I live in Heaven. and grateful for the Great Pacific Ocean air conditioning that blows sweet fresh air through my home. Every single community needs to assess all alternative forms of transportation that spare the air/reduce fossil fuel use. Cycling/walking keeps me in great shape at 75 years of age. Find your local bike coalition, take their free classes...learn to ride a bike. The Water is Rising.

No wonder insurance companies are pulling out of Florida. Actuality is a hard number
and in Florida's case it points to more of this stuff coming on a regular basis.
