They always wonder how humans did these things with "simple tools". Brother you gotta open your mind. This is way before internet. The fact of cultures working these things out to ME is a result of copious amounts of time on a project important enough to span entire generations. Like architects probably spent their LIVES digging out the front face, sculpting and refining just the front face. Even humans centuries ago realized that wooden structures, even stone structures if not built properly, won't stand the test of time. If a building was important enough to them, i could see them putting EVERYTHING into its construction. I mean no pun intended but it's obviously monumental as we're sitting here talking about that very existing structure today. It seems like you're envisioning work equivalent to sanitizing the entire Colosseum with a toothbrush, to build and carve such a massive stone structure with stone, iron, bronze tools. But, this is dead in the middle, the heart, of an evolving, growing, expanded homo sapiens species who were geologically speaking just learning to wield and master this concept of organized civilization. If youre gonna put your life's work into something, especially back then, let it be something that will hold significant cultural impact for many generations after your own. They probably didn't slave- drive laborers to do it either, it's probably similar to the pyramids at Giza; this is the work of master-crafters (of this particular society) at their best.
