Car gets booted in Queens, NY

Guy was just sitting in his wife's car waiting for her and the NYC Dept of Finance Boot van rolled up and the marshal and boot guy get's out and puts a boot on their SUV while he's sitting in the vehicle. In my eyes this is a form of extortion cause the value of the car outweighs the value of the $300 fine. So many hard working people in NYC are being taking advantage of by this greedy system. It's not right to hold a working person vehicle captive when they need to move about to get to work, take they kids to school, get to medical appointment, visit the elder, family and friends. This is another form of Extortion and Taxation of NYC residents. I hate to see this in action but hopefully this video will help someone avoid this issue.

If you owe tickets and you get that letter cover one or two letter of your license over night the scanner they use won’t pick up the plate number

That same thing happened to me, same kind of into. I push that away from my car, jumped in my car and peeled off. Dude was telling me, it's locked on already. I said to myself f*** that up out of here. He didn't get a chance to really lock it I peeled off on them.

Damn….. when u get booted, that means u have over $350 worth of tickets in judgment. It can be parking tickets or camera violations. A ticket goes into judgment after 100 days of nonpayment. The Department of finance will send u ample notices to warn u. If u fail to pay… that’s when the boot comes into play. It’s also interest added on for non payment. In addition, you will have to pay ALL FEES, including the boot fee, poundage fee & Marshall/sheriff fee. The tickets that are in default have interest added on. For example, let’s say u have a $35 ticket…. It then becomes $95. Trust me, I know the struggle of parking in NYC!! U have about 48 hours to pay what u owe. If u fail to pay, they will tow your car. Furthermore, u can opt into a payment plan but u have to go to a finance center before 48hrs. I can’t believe they caught him while he was sitting in his car!! DAMN!!
