The NYPD debuted a new weapon in its war against parking violators, flashing a “windshield boot” for the first time. Also called a “Barnacle Device,” the boot is used to immobilize vehicles violating parking regulations. NBC New York's Marc Santia reports.

Traffic agents used to be dressed in brown so that armed suspects won't mistake them for armed police officers. Someone got the bad idea of dressing unarmed traffic agents in similar uniforms to police officers causing a serious safety issue. The NYPD may claim that it provides omnipresence but it really stemmed from the NYPD changing to dark blue shirts and wanting to sell off the excess amount of left over light blue shirts they had in stock, corruption in the procurement process?

Since i move out of ny in 2012 i don't know what tolls are..parking tickets...street cleaning tickets...ect... I even got a ticket once in ny for something missing or broken in the car....the car was new, , the ticket was $40 but why loose a days work to fight a ticket.. bunch of thieves.

It’s not new, Philadelphia has used them for over a year, put your defrost on your windshield then crank the heat, it releases the suction cups. There are videos on how to remove them, good luck nypd 😂😂

Instead of a solution that helps people they come up with this? I know most people will not think this is a major thing but the system is so corrupt here they have to do everything they can to make money. You add this to the cameras they have all over, congestion pricing on the horizon and literally 2 ticket people to every block it really is becoming more stressful to live here everyday. These are the same people that made marijuana legal as to where you can’t walk down the street without smelling the smoke and inhaling cancer with my kid there with me. When you let the government get away with ideas like this it leads to why prices here have made it almost impossible to afford. Some may look at this story and laugh because the reporter says it looks like SpongeBob but this is truly no laughing matter. We need to organize and stand up against injustices
