I mean, Snowbirds are a thing -- Florida has a huge francophone population in the summer (relative to the almost exclusively anglophone and hispanophone populations in that area) because so many of our elderly québécois(es) retire half the year there.

Florida has a lot of Northern transplants that's why the accent is similar. I grew up in Fl and have a slight southern accent but not much of one, but probably because my father's from Pennsylvania and my Mother is Canadian.

Someone from western Washington here! Potato bugs do NOT look like potato’s! They are these tiny bugs if you frighten them they will curl up into a tiny ball and maybe then they look like potato.

I'm from West Michigan (right near Grand Rapids) and you sound very much like people from around here lol 😂 Michiganders definitely use pop over soda. We also have the Grand Rapids Griffins and lots of lake effect snow ❄️ 😂

Alaska is USA because it was Russian first and then we sold it to USA :)

How you pronounce Florida is quite similar to how some Floridians sound saying it. Flaw-ri-duh or Floor-i-duh I usually hear (the latter could be a transplanted NY/LI thing).

My grandma is from Grand Rapids, you do sound like her I guess that’s why I never thought you had strong accents! She thinks I sound super southern bc I’m from Ohio 😂 my boyfriend who lives even further south from me says I don’t sound country at all

I live in northern New York along the trout river border but the Cornwall border is only like a half hour away ... We don't feel like we have any kind of accent and we call soda soda, not pop where I live. I don't feel like you 2 have any distinct accent ... You sound like we do in northern New York.

there are technically 2 different "potato bug"s
.
the Colorado potato beetle which is a small yellow and black, striped beetle that eats potato plants and is considered a garden pests.
their baby form is really bad for eating the roots of many many plants with a preference for root vegetables like potatoes and carrots.

you could consider them to be the "true" potato bug.

.
the other is an Isopod called the woodlouse.
they have many common names including potato bug, sow bug, and pill bug.
they are flat, armoured bugs that curl up into a ball when scared.
They are considered good for gardens because they help break down dead and decaying plant matter without harming live plants in anyway.

I think these were the ones being asked about in the quiz.
but they can essentially be considered the "false" potato bug because they actually have nothing to do with potatoes.
I don't even know why they have the potato bug nickname. they don't even look remotely similar to the potato beetle
