we had a similar program about misbehaved kids in Brazil and we consider it's a socio-economical thing because generally more wealthy people don't set boundaries to the children

I wasn't even half as bad as those kids but my mom's way was:
1. Have me kneel on that rough carpet and pray to God that she'd would show mercy or forget to punish me. She couldn't hurt me when I was praying.
2. That death stare.
3. Walk around with the belt.
If I tried to make a run for it, something would hit me in the back of the head... That lady had great aim.

it's interesting how people in the comments assume disciplining a child is the same thing as beating them 😒
disciplining them with spank is NOT the same as beating them until they are bruised. I was spanked, not beaten, and my mother was always complemented with how well behaved when were as children .
there is a difference .

My mother set the fear in god in me growing up. Now that I have kids, now I see why, I have a 16 and 13 yo. These two have been well taught and know when they’re out of line bc they’ll look at me to see if I’m looking. Once I set “the look” on them, they know it’s coming.

Of course its somewhat funny to look back at how our latina moms raised, but sometimes hitting ot beating shouldn't be the solution. I don't want my kids to fear me or have trama. But unfortunatly because I was raised of having beatings for every bad thing I did, I am unsure how I would raise my children without beatings.
