I have The Changeling on my TBR and after your review I’ll make it a priority to read!

My top reads of 2020
8) The Guest List by Lucy Foley
7) The One by John Marrs
6) Bunny by Mona Awad
5) The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden
4) The Ruins by Scott Smith
3) The Southern Book Clubs Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix
2) The Twisted Ones by T. Kingfisher
1) The Hollow Places by T. Kingfisher

Clearly, I had a favorite author too lol. I can honestly say I’m now officially a fan of T. Kingfisher. I loved both her novels and can highly recommend!

I managed to read 24 books this year. I don't think I've managed that since college (Literature major).
Top 5 were...
5. I'm Thinking of Ending Things - Iain Reid. Loved the book, hated the movie.
4. Let Me In - John A. Lindqvist. One of my favorite vampire movies of all time, finally read the book. Book is good, but movie is better.
3. Once Upon A River - Diane Setterfield. A triumphant return after her last book.
The Terror - Dan Simmons. I don't know anything about ships or the Franklin Expedition, but this book was so good.
1. The Shining - Stephen King. This could be my new favorite Stephen King. Once again, loved the book, hated the movie.

Nice picks! I LOVED The Night Circus, so I'm definitely gonna have to check out The Starless Sea. Six of Crows has been sitting unread on my shelf for YEARS now. 😆 Some of my favorite books I read in 2020 are Heartless by Marissa Meyer, Neil Gaiman's Fragile Things anthology, Volumes 1-3 of Clive Barker's Books of Blood, and the Rogues anthology by a ton of great authors (I read a LOT of short story collections.) I also read the Anna and the Apocalypse novelization, which wasn't perfect, but worked surprisingly well without the songs!

I love seeing everyone's favorites of the year. Mexican Gothic was one of my favorites of the year as well. I am pretty sure Kindred will be one of my favorites of this year. The Only Good Indians was so good. Night Film was amazing as well. The Changeling was my favorite read of 2019. Great list here.

I'm going to go super disturbing, I'm no sure what your limits are when it comes to books but two books that SHOOK me to the core, EXQUISITE CORPSE by Poppy Z. Brite and THE GIRL NEXT DOOR by Jack Ketchum, . RIP.

I picked up The Changeling as a recommendation of yours, and WOW! It completely blew me away as well! THAT SCENE from this book, like. 😳 I will never recover.
Uzumaki is so good. It's the only Junji Ito I've read so far, but I'll definitely get around to some others eventually.

My #1 Top Book of the year was Parable of the Talents, by Octavia E. Butler. Both Earthseed novels are definitely in my top 5 favorite books of all time, and if you're trying to get into sci-fi, I can't recommend you read Parable of the Sower (the first one) enough! It's HEAVY. But 100% worth it.
Also, I don't know if you've gotten around to her yet, but for sci-fi you can't really go wrong with Ursula K. LeGuin. (I read The Dispossessed in 2020, which I love.)

I'm intrigued about Mexican Gothic, I might pick it up.
The Only Good Indians is one that I NEED to get around to at some point, though!

Great reads & will look into all if them as well as some peep choices. I'm trying to get back into copies more once I have space. I picked up recently SAGA compendium 1 & the last compendium to THE WALKING DEAD, along with HERE'S NEEGAN companion to that. Mainly doing the digital route, or borrow from library or friends. Awesome video #nightmaremaven 😁

I don't get the chance to read a lot but I'll know where to come to for recommendations. I did read "I'm Thinking of Ending Things" and I liked it.

I have read two books on your list! The Starless Sea left me feeling like I'd just stepped off a roller coaster. I think I enjoyed it.

I would want to warn people who want to read the Ninth House of the sexual assault scene. I was very surprised by it.
