I love how we can rock our hair in almost any shape, form, or condition and still look good doing it

Even though I’m a Jamaican descendant and offspring of a line of Rastas I was never told or made to loc my hair without choice. Grew up experiencing the dirty looks and nasty comments said about my father because of is locs. I always saw locing your hair as a spiritual journey as much as it is a physical one. Im 24 now but as I get older I am yielding to the calling to loc and allowing my ancestors to guide me on my journey.(With me knowing family history...Adding extensions will forever be a no no but do you) I grew up hearing a lot of the gems said in these comments. There’s a huge misconception between young people wanting to loc their hair because of the “ugly phase” but just trust the ancient process and make your journey sweet. Blessings Kings and Queens.

There are no "ugly stages". There are only challenging stages. 😁
Thanks for the video. Good video. ❤️

If you’re thinking about locking your hair do it. I’m about to hit my 2 year mark and I would say it’s worth it. Trust the process. The process of seeing your hair grow and mature is interesting

For a long time I considered sisterlocks. I finally decided to install my own microlocks a couple months into covid. I absolutely love my locs and get compliments all the time. I never experienced a ugly loc phase🙂

I started my first set of locs over 13 years ago. Semi free form. I did the big chop and I'm 2 years in with my second set. Definitely a spiritual thing for me. I will never go back to free flowing hair. Loc nation forever.

I am NEVER ashamed to walk around with my hair no matter what stage of my loc journey I'm in.

The micro locs remind me of a time I was on punishment in high school for two weeks and I spent every day putting a different section of my natural hair into very tiny braids. It took me foooorrreeevvvveeeer to take them out....I now have a desire to start my own micro locs the same way 💕🤔🙏🏽🤔💕

I started with locs as small as buds right after my big chop. I was never ashamed bc I was so happy and excited abt the journey. Locs grow so quick and are so healthy for my 4c hair. Do what makes you and your hair happy. If ppl see it as unprofessional that’s their own bias. Don’t let it stop you from doing what’s right for you.

I've been freeforming for 3 months and I already love my locs 🙏🏽 Y'all remember all your dreadlocks are beautiful 💜

I wouldn’t describe semi or traditional has more “neat” that’s a Eurocentric mindset. If it comes out the scalp natural then it’s already neat, beautiful and even professional.

Thanks for the vid! I considered locs many years ago but wasn’t comfortable with it being short so I’ve been natural for 6 years. I don’t like to comb my hair so I’m getting locs and I’m excited about it. Took me a while to love myself so this is my crowning moment of self love 💜

Semi free form loc'd for nearly 10 years now. Instead of coils/palm rolls I started with interlocked baby locs. This was because I had an active lifestyle and needed to wash my hair every week in a hot climate. I had an awkward loc stage for about 6 months til they started maturing and I absolutely love them now. I've learned to maintain them myself by interlocking the new growth every 2-3 months and went from taking 6 hours to do my whole head to a little over 2 hours just from practice. I love how low maintenance they are and the versatility of styles. Most days I wake up and walk out the door ready to go. No fuss!

I can’t wait to get my locs! I think I’m going to get traditional locs. My dad has locs and they are all the way down to his butt. I used to be scared of getting them because of the “ugly stage” but I realized that I’m only thirteen and Ill be happy I got them in 2 years. And I’m sure my dad had an ugly stage too so :) no regrets

I really like the look of the semi free form and traditional locs. 😍
They’re not too small and look much neater and uniform.
Might have to consider wearing this myself
