Automatically Update Dockers with Watchtower

Today, we will install Watchtower into a Openmediavault docker. Watchtower will then automatically update our other dockers.

WATCHTOWER_INCLUDE_STOPPED : True

I suggest you add "--cleanup --interval 21600" to the "command" box at the bottom of the docker configuration in OMV. It adds some helpful extra options to the watchtower docker: to clean up old versions after they are updated, and to only check once every 6 hours. The standard check is every 5 seconds, which is really unnecessary for ordinary use.

People in your comments are correct, if you have containers that that have the field "volumes from" filled in (like sonarr, radarr, jackett, etc) they will not be readded. I have been able to reproduce multiple times and I followed your guides exactly. If anyone knows a fix please post!

Hello and thank you for all your videos about OMV. They have been VERY helpful. I have one problem with watchtower whatsoever. When watchtower update container images all container are restarted automatic only Sonarr and Jackett won't restart and i have to run image mannualy. It's really annoying. On all containers I have restart policy set to "Restart always".

Any Idea what could be wrong?

I'm just asking myself if it's possible to use the options of watchtower like interval (maybe more than 5m checks) and cleanup ? I know for cleanup you use a cron job. Is it better ? Or just impossible with omv interface to add the options ?

I did this and my plex container disappeared. I waited overnight for it to come back but no joy. Now I've tried to start a new container (as I don't remember the exact parameters i previously used I had to take a guess) and myip:32400/web is unable to connect. Is there any way of getting old containers back?

Did this and now after a reboot radarr, sonarr and jackett are no longer running... So it's like I have to reinstall them all. I'd rather not update them at all if I am going to have to reinstall and re configure them all each time.

Heads up: on an Odroid HC1/HC2/XU4 I found I had to use v2tec/watchtower and add the tag armhf-latest.

I have similar problems as some others using Watchtower:


Notes: I have Odroid XU4 and so have followed recommendation of Steve Lion.
Also, added cleanup and interval commands as per Marc de Rooij


On first run: sonarr and radarr docker containers disappeared (but docker images still present)
and, Heimdall config reset


Not sure if this it tried to update multiple containers all at the same time

Do not walk from this program, RUN from it. I set my setting just like your instructions for Plex. I set your instructions just like Watchtower.... It updated and blew out my settings and watched list and everything. It changed where it got the config, where to look for files.
