My dad always told me you can eat it so just throw it in. Is that right?

Learning when to hold your knife by the blade was an absolute eye-opener in school.

You can also use the heel if it's sharp and the right shape👍 (it is def awkward and wouldn't want to do that for an entire clamshell of tomatoes, but for a couple it's handy)

That's a very beautiful knife and that custom handle is so nice!!

You can try using the tip of a piping nozzle. In this way you can easily remove the stem and it is a lot quicker. Stay awesome!

I'm just a home chef, but I slice the tomato in half at a bias so the stem is completely on one side, then when placed face down on the cutting board I just cut a "V" into the tomato to cut out the stem.

Don’t hold your pairing knife like that. Try hold the knife flat and pinching it up close to the tip, use your thumb as a guard for the depth you need. If you only expose the minimal amount of blade, the tip of your thumb can rest in the middle of the tomato core, and then just spin the tomato. It’ll make you faster!

Learned that trick about 12 years ago never seen anyone else do it... i like to put my thumb against the stem then brace my knife against my thumb and just spin the tomato, holds it steady that way

if youre dicing the tomato anyways i dont even bother taking out the stem beforehand. just slice it like you would normally then dice all the end slices after, just go around the stem and throw it out after

I stick my thumb up to about 1/2 an inch from the end and then use my thumb as the guide to get around the center. I prefer that with the paring knife though. also works with strawberries.

If you don't have a pairing knife, you can also use the bottom of your chef's knife, I do it more often with a chefs knife because I hate pointing the tip of anything towards my opposite hand.

As a chef during lunch time do you provided your own food to eat or does the restaurant provide food for you?

Also, make sure the knife you use is always sharpened.

Cut a diamond or triangle cut around the stem where the cuts meet inside the tomato, causing the stem to just fall out.

Chef Peppin does it with the thumb as a stopper in case you apply too much pressuure or the somato slips...

Use the same grip as you used with the chefs knife as you use the pairing knife, more accurate and quicker
