Yikes ! I felt so uncomfortable for the seller. She was nice to bring out those bins, and you were willing to wait until they decided what to sell, but then the other woman just started grabbing. She seemed to be pressuring them to sell things that they weren't ready to sell. Smart move to get what you had and back off. Then, when you came back I got the idea that she didn't have any money to buy them anyway. I think you did the right thing by deescalating the situation, you just never know what someone's issues are.

As someone who goes to garage sales I think you handle the situation well. People can get pushy and often only wants something because someone else wants it. Those ladies brought that stuff out for you to look through 1st & at the same time they still needed to make sure the wanted to sell what was in those boxes. You were patient and quite courteous. I doubt that one woman would've ever left if you didn't go to your car to wait for her to leave. Anyways, good job in handling the situation.

I’m a picker for over 10 years now. Flea markets/yard sales every week.
Neither customer did anything wrong.
If anyone did something “wrong” it was the seller not speaking up and controlling the situation. Her property, her items, her choice who gets first shot.

Dave had ZERO claim to those items. He did the smart thing by trying to manipulate the situation to get the items…. But he had zero claim to them.

All that happened was a lady brought out additional items to be sold at her yard sale. Just because it was Dave’s interest in gaming that prompted that, doesn’t mean they are “his” before he bought them, handled them, or even saw them.

The other lady buyer did nothing wrong either. For anyone who thinks so, obviously doesn’t frequent flea markets. If you get there after sun-up, you have already missed the best deals. You get there before sellers have set up, and typically it’s a frenzy to dig through and find the best stuff as they are unloading their vehicle. This type of interaction happens over and over between people.

The lady buyer should had looked at the woman and asked, “Has he bought these?” To which the answer would had been “No” and she should had continued digging through the box for the Nintendo games.

Dave had zero claim, and I think he knows it….. he’s just developed the tactics of a picker, and I commend him for that. He won the exchange.

(It was also smart of him to denigrate the behavior of the female buyer to the seller…. It was likely that sympathy that ultimately allowed him to buy the Xbox stuff. She had told him twice “I need to check with Justin first to see if it’s ok to sell these” and has taken them inside…. Was Dave in the wrong for not accepting that answer and continuing to push for them..? No. He is a picker, using picker tactics.)

She was pissing me off just watching the vid lol 😂 she was the one being greedy and grabby. Good deal! Your perseverance paid off. The sellers seemed so nice and such a cute pup 🐶

You handled the situation really well. I had a very similar situation where the seller and I were in the middle of negotiations on a huge lot of vintage car manuals. We reached a deal on the whole lot. A lady overheard us, and started grabbing a bunch of manuals and creating her own stack. Both the seller and I explained to her that we already made a deal on all the manuals, but she was persistent. The seller finally had to be very stern with her letting her know they were already sold, and she finally gave in. It's too bad some people have to be like that. Best wishes! -Steven

Best video ever! You really showed Everyone a lesson to learn when buying items at a yard sale. Hearing the homeowners comments about the lady when you went back should be a lesson learned for everyone don’t be trying to get things too cheap. And that the sad act isn’t going to work. I loved when the homeowner said, yeah when she started to pour me and only have eight dollars and the homeowner said to you hey I’ve got bills to pay to otherwise I wouldn’t be Having a yard sale.
