For everyone asking.... this is me just talking about it. No graphics, not pictures, not script, no snarky comments, just putting everything in perspective. Be nice to each other.

I think all the people nominated for top NASA positions should show their skills at KSP in public.

When you build rockets in California, test them in Texas, and launch them in Florida, you help ensure Congress will fund you. California has 53 reps in the House. There are 36 in Texas, and 27 in Florida. That's more than 1/4 of the 435 reps in the House. If they painted their rockets in New York, they could write their own checks.

Artemis directors kinda saw the writing on the wall. They brought in a ton of international partners so it would be extremely hard to cancel it

Spending money on space usually brings solutions and technology developments that will be used to solve problems on earth. Because space is pretty extreme.

I really love this comment section for being so civil

Being a political junky, I still appreciate your attempt to remain apolitical on the topics of NASA, Artemis, and Space Force.
The only suggestion I can make is that for those who want to push for funding, to write and call their Congress people.

As seen from Germany, this is the best and most civil talk about what happened in the US since a long time. Thanks Scott!

People ask, "Why spend money in space, instead of on solving problems here on earth?"

Because, when you have a problem inside the cave, you often have to look outside the cave for a solution.

Scott: "You really have to work with the senate to work the funding out..."

My head: "The Imperial Senate will no longer be of any concern to us. I've just received word that the Emperor has dissolved the council permanently. The last remnants of the Old Republic have been swept away."

Senate: You need to build SLS
NASA: okay then can we use it to get to the moon quickly?
Senate: No

"I'm not sure when Boeing's going to fly."

The way you added that made me laugh for the first time in a while! Thanks Scott.

One of the best analogies I've heard, and I believe it's even been said by Elon Musk, is that the US President is trying to steer an enormous ship but only has a very small rudder. The best results are achieved by someone who can get the entire crew, to stick with this analogy (House, Senate and the US population), working toward some common set of goals.

I think you mean, "The president sends his idea for a budget to congress and then congress rips it to shreds and does whatever they want to"

Being scared of making a video that even so much as remotely touches on a peripheral area of politics is one of the biggest issues facing US politics currently. There's no reason whatsoever it should be so divisive to this extreme. I hope sincerely this is an issue that gets tackled in the coming years.
