I've been watching your channel, cause I learn something new from every single video. Today this video is pivotal for those who are waiting to approach perfect native sounding. But I've learned it's better to speak clearly & confidently is even enough us to build-up our fluency. Thank you Ollie for this lesson🤗

uff interesting tips. I realized what you said, it's more important to work on a clear pronunciation and the accent it's up to you while you are confident to speak with others english speakers as much as you can.

Fantastic video! Being able to be understood and communicate in English is so much more important than being able to sound and speak like a native speaker 😊

I’m Portuguese and growing up my English teacher (who was also Portuguese but studied in England) would make us speak with an English accent. I love the accent and I have been speaking with it for as long as I can remember, since it was how I learned it. But now I work a job that requires speaking in English most of the time and I feel quite self concious about it, because I’m afraid I’ll pronounce something wrong and because I never lived in the UK, so I’m afraid people will call me out on it as if I’m being pretentious…

Exciting lesson. Thanks Ollie for choosing this topic. We are truly interested in getting the accent. I have got the accent but I think my accent sounds like British one rather than an American one.

Great video, in my case, I'm trying to get a standard American accent, however I just working on my accent cuz I like to do it, and it's fun to me, but accents aren't important as long as you're able to communicate with everyone, that's completely fine

My goal is to speak like a native rather than sound like a native. Imo is more important to be able to express yourself with words than to have a proper accent as long as its clear and easy to understand.

I'm from México and I really want and need to speak and sound like native (American) 'cause here to find a well paid job ( as an English teacher ) you are asked to be as fluent, accurate as a native English Speaker.

Extremely interesting topic. My thoughts as an Spaniard who is even a bit obsessed with English:
-First, I think you missed something in your variables chart: ease to learn languages, depends on each person. Lets face it, some people are very good and can get a great level with much lower exposure and dedication than others. I have seen people stuck at a certain level no matter what.
-I fully agree on the identity thing about keeping a bit of you accent, but I have to say I hear Spaniards in meetings (in English) every day and frequently what you hear is a fluent person with a terrible accent, I mean terrible. So my advice to adults is please, it DOES matter, try to improve it a bit. I mean dont get obsessed, but care about it a bit. It's a pitty that fluent people speak English like if they were speaking Spanish (pronunciation wise).
-Also, having a very good English accent (and fluent of course) might not increase your communication skills in the end, but it might impress some people, like other Spaniards, and you might get a job because of that (I did)
