Big budget letdowns, indie flicks that didn't hit their mark, and self-indulgent passion projects. There are plenty of reasons why movies bomb at the box office, and here are a few of the biggest duds this year.

The Northman may have not succeeded financially but it has a strong fan base and rightfully so, it's a beautiful movie

The Northman’s budget was between $70-90 million not $100M. Plus it got good reviews. I enjoyed it.

The Northman was still a really great movie. It just wasn't what mainstream audiences wanted.

I love the smug insertion of The Message into at least three of the descriptions of these films by the Looper writers.

Bros bombed because he said if your straight this isn’t made for you then it bombed and you were called homophobic for not watching it

Basically, what I just heard...
Narrator: This movie flopped. This movie represents the LBGQT, so give it a watch. This flopped. This flopped. This represents LBGQT, so watch it. This flopped. This had all females, so watch it.
Interesting the only ones they pushed for had some distinct similarities.

Loved the Northman. All of Robert’s movies are instant modern classics even if they don’t do well in theaters.

Wait…… people didn’t go to virtue signaling movies? Ironic.

The Northman was a great movie, I watched it multiple times on the big screen, and bought it when it hit 4k UHD

Maybe these companies will eventually realize that making films aimed towards a small percentage of the world's overall population is a bad idea.. 🤣😂😅

Morbius was unique in being released twice and Flopping both times.

Many parents no longer trust Disney movies as always being suitable for children and they won't take a chance by taking their kids to see them.

Sure are trying hard to make these flops not seem like flops, aren't we?

It's funny how they kept praising these flops like they were actually good movies. Northman and Fantastic Beasts were the only good ones.

Make a movie for three people, call everyone else on the planet a bigot to refusing to see a movie if they have no interest in.

Take an IP thats been around for decades and has a huge fan base, completely changed for the modern audience, call everyone a bigot or racist when they don’t show up to the new reimagined IP no one asked for…..

I wonder what their reasons will be for Indiana Jones 5 utter failure??? Racist, bigot, homophobic, anti-woman, it will certainly not be that it’s a garbage movie no one asked for.

Maybe studios should consider their primary demographic that watch movies at a theater?.. hint people on dates and families with children.
Would either demographic be willing to spend money in a movie theater to watch an LGBQT+ oriented film or would they opt for another alternative?

There is a market for LGBTQ+ movies "i.e. Brokeback mountain" but these are typically lower production cost films as they will have limited appeal and showings.. hint it's a smaller viewing demographic.

I loved The Northman. It's one of the few movies on your list were men weren't kissing each other.
