One of the things I love/hate is loving getting a break when it's packed and hating when it's too empty and you get bored -

I work as a the only male cocktail server at a popular bar in Los Angeles. You meet a wide array of people. You also see people at their very worst.  And I can tell you, after a long & busy night, meeting just that one group of people that smile, say thank you, and really appreciate you and your service, makes everything that happened that night worth it.

Omg the rush one.. For sure.. Some nights I'm like.. I'm so on it I'm the shit I can take five more tables bring it on.. And then the next weekend I'm like ringing tables in on the wrong table number and forgetting everything and I seriously think wtf is wrong with me??

They forgot about people coming in and staying for hours upon hours and people who come in 15 minutes before closing time to eat dinner.

How true this is, especially the last one where you are so stressed from the rush you brain turns to goo. I honestly think every person needs to work in some sort of retail/service job. People do not understand how hard it is and how badly people treat just because you're a server.
