Yes, Christi, I am applying your tips toward rejuvenating an old, long-dormant singing voice, with a life-long, infuriating history of several "migrating" cracks/breaks in the chest register, as well as between chest and falsetto (I never learned "mix"); cord polyps/nodules were ruled out, as the cause. Seems to have something to do with TWO voice changes in puberty (first, from boy soprano [became falsetto] to tenor, then tenor to baritone--all in 3 years, resulting in about a 4 octave, but barely controllable, range). So, I just sing in private and audio engineer for a friend, who occasionally records in my studio. But, I am enjoying trying your tips--thanks. Next Sohyang suggestion: "Everyone" (find the one with English subtitles). If, however, you are a woman "of faith", have a box of tissues handy and don't apply much mascara, on the day you listen to her sing this Korean Contemporary Christian, epic classic! Love your channel.

Kim So-hyang (born April 5, 1978), credited as Sohyang, is a South Korean singer.

She made debut in 1996 with the song "MR", which was released on Naver Music. Despite having a long career in South Korea, she was only able to make her international breakthrough in 2014, when she became the first Korean artist to sing the American national anthem at a NBA game. Sohyang also achieved fame when she sang with Michael Bolton & Kirk Franklin. Her has participated many times on television music competition programs Immortal Songs 2 and I Am a Singer, and the last King of Masked Singer (2017) and the more amazing performance on 2018 - 2019. winning twice on Immortal Songs 2 with songs "Lean on Me" and "Bridge Over Troubled Water".

Disney's did contract with her in movie Moana, Sohyang voiced the protagonist in the Korean-dubbed version, for the singing parts (How far I'll go).

Sohyang's voice type is a Lyric Soprano, specifically a Full Lyric Soprano. Her vocal range spans from D3 to A6, a total of 3 octaves, 3 notes, and a semitone. She is known for her emotive and powerful vocals with characteristics being a homogeneous, rounded, and bright instrument of remarkable beauty and meticulous control. This skill has been very much well showcased all throughout her career.

Actually, the first word out of this Bridge Over Trouble Water video is her name being announced by the MC.

Sohyang is a God given gift. She has dedicated her live to Jesus Christ. That is why she sings mainly in churches and charities. She did accept some invitations from competitions, and that is the reason why we have all these gems from her. In these competitions, the songs are rearranged - not only for her, but all competitors will also rearranged their songs.

She has been approached by agencies from Korea and US, and she rejected them all (although she admitted that she was tempted). Her songs are meant for those who needed consolation.

If you want to find her personal website, blog, FB, Instagram, twitter, etc etc on the Internet, she has none.

My favourite songs are those from her reign in King Of Mask Singer competition. Hard to choose, but if I have to choose, then it must be Dear Love. It is a cover of an OST, about a wife who is pining for her cheating husband. She still loves him dearly. You can hear waves and waves of yearning, wailing and pain in the song. I teared every single time, but that is just me.

i was stunned when I first ran across her. Most of her performances are just amazing, full of skill, technique, musicality, great arrangements, and emotion. And one of my favourite things about So Hyang, despite her power and high range - her soft legato singing is just devine.
