There is only 1 person that does arrangments for so hyang performances & thats so hyang herself, she is a master arranger & she is the queen of the 'dynamic build'. During the pandemic she has released some of her performances from a project 'begin again korea' (she did 8 episodes I believe) where a small group of singers/musicians went in to work places & public spaces & put on mini gigs, in front of very small crowds, to help keep the spirits up of the korean people during these difficult times. They were essentially busking & these performances are as raw & live as you can get but over the last couple of years so hyang appears to have had an extended run of relatively good health, for her at least, & oh boy! does it show, not only does she look fantastic but her voice is better than ever, a bold statement, but so true. It warms my heart to see her smiling & having a good time. She was the token 'elder' in this ensemble but she really showed the young ones how its done & on many occasions her fellow performers can be seen staring at her in disbelief, some crying etc, some shivering with the chills. It is well known that her impeccable technique allows her to turn her hand to many genre's & in this 'begin again' series she sings many different things. All these performances are outdoors, with so hyang 9/10 times sat, with her legs crossed, not ideal for the diaphragm!!! & she's just chillin. Apart from technique, sohyangs other main trade mark is her ability to emote & tell a story & this really shines in these more acoustic sets. The first of these performances to be released was her rendition of 'i will always love you', which she sang a capella for the first part & even as a long standing sohyang fan my first thought was OMG! she's gone up another level musically, which I didn't think poss but as each song has been released the standard has never dropped & she's gone on to amaze even the most loyal of her fans. She is truly a force of nature. Others to look out for are:
'If I aint got you' by alicia keys
'I wont give up' by jason mraz (OMG-kleenex alert)
A song called 'day day' where you will find her rapping & even though the majority of the other performers were 'young/er' pop stars, it was decided that so hyang would take the lead, due to her superior breath control, & do the majority of the rap.
Then another genre change when she decided to sing Ella Fitzgeralds 'misty'. OMG!! my fav, she was that good she could easily make a successful career of singing this genre alone, its just effortless. There isn't/hasn't exactly been masses of her performances to watch & when they are they they have usually been from 2012 to 2018, but these shows are definitely 2020.

Finally, also because of the pandemic, she has released a music video, which is a rarity for her, of the song 'never enough' which every man & his dog seem to 'covering' these days but nobody had covered it like so hyangs version where basically she sings 3 part harmonies, with herself. How can you turn down 3 so hyang's?

I am so glad you eventually got back to her & provided us mere mortals with your fascinating assessment of her performance. After 'arirang alone' I was starting to wonder if that was gonna be a 'one off' reaction by yourself, which would've been a shame for us that watch your channel & an even greater shame for your ears if you had missed out performances like the one you've just seen, so thankyou so much

Hi Elizabeth, Congratulations on reaching 130K Subscribers! I Loved this performance, Your Reaction and I also LOVE the MAP in the background!! I remember listening to the original song back in the early 70's when I was around 9 or 10 yrs old. This updated and contemporary rendition is even more powerful!! Welcome back to Sohyang's world. Great reaction and analysis, as always. Actually she's the one that came up with the arrangement, and also for all of her other performances for this show. She's beyond amazing.
The peak of her masterpiece iceberg is "Everyone", you should react to it later.
You can only found one "Everyone" performance by Sohyang, because according to her statement, that was the toughest song and performance that she ever did, that she wasn't even sure if she will be able to pull that up again one more time.

So now that performance becomes her greatest legacy for the world of singing and goes into the legendary book of vocal skills.

Loved the reaction! Sohyang does all of her own arrangements and this is probably one of her most ambitious reimaginings of a classic song to date! Such a crazy arrangement and obviously her vocals are incredible. I’d really recommend checking out “Everyone” and “Bridge Over Troubled Water” from her!
