This really resonates. I fear leaving my apartment, but every day I fantasize about packing a lunch, grabbing a blanket, and going to a park to just sit in the sun and enjoy the outdoors. That may be a ways away for me, but I'm going to go outside on my balcony for a few minutes to stand in the sun and enjoy the outdoors.

oh my gosh, this is so simple but still. mind-blowing.
we never really think about how a sentence like "i am going to...." can play with our psychology and just makes us talk rather than do. This is such a great way to boost the motivation! Starting small is the key to reach goals.

Truth! You turned on the light for me. I never could figure out why, whenever I said I was going to do something, that I ended up not doing it! Now I understand, and it's so much more satisfying to actually do some small thing toward my goal than to sit around making good resolutions that never come to fruition. Thank you!

Totally true. I started exercising around the end of last year with just this sort of thing. Still doing it about six months later- at a significantly higher level. I'm still improving in little chunks.
You don't always need to pick up a new habit this way, but for those that are more difficult and less enjoyable, it's a great strategy.

I've been telling myself all day I'm going to beat this difficult boss in Tales of Zestiria, but instead have been binging on minimalist videos all day. So then I came across this video and now my controller is turned on.

Your channel is so valuable for me! I'm learning so much.. my husband and I have adopted minimalism, and we are in the initial decluttering phase. Awesome! This is how I started flossing. I flossed one tooth the first day and then I felt silly and flossed them all and I still do, twice a day, every day. I didn't think of it as something I could use on other good habits I say I want to start but never do.

This totally worked for me. The ridiculously small thing was to 'rest on the gymball for 10 seconds, ' every day. By the end of the year, I was enrolled at a gym doing yoga 3 times a week and signed up for personal training.

I literally ran to get my guitar sitting in the garage that I have never played, but always wanted to. I will be apply this technique to my life in several areas.
