Some people have commented on the attack and how the transients get affected too much: That would be the case if you were using the compressor in series. But here we’re using it in parallel, so it only adds to the original sound, while the original sound (with the original transients) stays intact.

Just regular compression and a dynamic EQ would do the same thing without absolutely destroying the sub bass.

In my projects I like to create a bus for low end sounds. Kick, sub, bass synths. Sidechain the sub/bass to the kick SLIGHTLY so that the transient is still there, then parallel comp with slow attack/ fast release. On my compressor I usually have the dry/wet at about 20-40% depending on the song.

The idea is to preserve transients and retain dynamic contrast. You're not smashing the two together; you're making them play nice with each other while also ensuring that it can be played back accurately on different systems.

meh this isnt glue.. this is increasing the sustain of the subs for both kick n bass making the sub level objectively higher and occurring for longer... it actually makes it muddier.. what you need to do to glue is actually reduce the sub on the bass a little over time.. such as a slight tremolo on only the sub frequencies on the bassline.. then duck the bass so the kick comes through and you get a clean sub that isnt as sausage.. then you can boost volume and you have loud.. tight distinctly clean kick/bass that works together

How about just use phase inversion to mix them together and then add a compressor for glue?

The kick is tuned to the bass ( I would say G ). What when bass note changes?

Gonna get a lot of peaks from this that will affect your headroom. Put a limiter after the compressor to make sure this doesn’t happen

You can glue the kick and bass together by sample/preset sound selection. Simple only
For seasoned ears

ALWAYS USE A SPECTROSCOPE LIKE PSYSCOPE FOR EXAMPLE.. JUST TO SEE WHAT YOU ARE DOING TO YOUR SOUND IT WILL MAINTAIN YOU AWAY FROM SUCH DRAMATIC DECISION ON YOUR LOW END
