It seems social media brings out everyone's narcissistic nature and thus behavior

I am a Registered Nurse and I've been employed in a critical care hospital setting in Canada and the United States these past 2 years. I observed something interesting when it came to the there were certain nurse and physician colleagues of mine that seemed to enjoy a newfound " celebrity status ". They posted tiktok videos in their PPE ( masks, gloves, gowns ) and seemed to crave the recognition of being so-called healthcare heroes. I get it, often it's a thankless job, but come on are we all in high school?? Grow up and show some professionalism!

I'd be surprised if she wasn't fired with that video.

My mom was a nurse for 30 years..she worked strictly with elderly patients....I couldn't imagine her making a video about it...disgusting

The same goes for people who post social media posts at funerals for sympathy. Disgusting.

It's hilarious that she thought this would have been a good idea

When I was growing up there was an expression "you're not the centre of the universe". So many these days think they are.

It's wild to me how so many people are on tiktok. I'll remain the odd one out.

3:40 This is what I have realized from filming for a decade or so. The idea that I would rather be looking at a camera screen instead of into a crowd from a stage is insane. The act of holding the camera and filming means that I don't technically experience the moment until I look at the footage. In the end you don't experience it the same. It's why I encourage people to not go to concerts and film, to enjoy the moments and experience it from not behind a screen.

Been there as well Jedediah. That’s why I chose to get rid of FB and don’t have any accounts for all the other social media platforms.

Long before social media when we only had the news, how many times did someone stand on their lawn with news cameras speaking about some atrocity in their life. It's true that social media allows more access than in the past but don't let some older person make you think it didn't occur in their generation. Every time a camera appeared someone was in front of it.

So, she had time to setup the camera before reacting like that? How can that be a genuine reaction? If someone else happen to record her, that would have been a genuine reaction.

Well said. At 62 I experience life through 5 senses, eyes evolved to see 180 degrees, movement, shading, color enhanced by auditory, olfactory, sensory perception of every moment in time. I see my 70 year old husband missing it all while viewing through a 2"x2" screen for a pic of unrepeatable transitory moments of an entire life through a screen.

Think about it. She took the time to set up the camera, chose a song to match the video, added text and uploaded it to tiktok where the majority of the audience is 17 years old. What are we doing as humans? Where are we headed?

I don't have a problem with the video. Theres nothing wrong with people wanting to share their expirence. Maybe it helps her feel better. It might help teach people what its like for nurses/drs in that situation. Tik tok is largely fiction acting for entertainment.

The issue with social media is it's disingenuousness. The act of wanting acknowledgement or attention. Social media should be a form of legacy for things that are real not for attention. When your going all out, that extra 10% - 30% to use social media while doing that is exactly that. Deficient energy. If you want to work your hardest and be your best acknowledgement needs to take a back seat. Even if that means you're treated worse off because you appear to be a failure socially. What people perceive you as and what you really are are not the same thing.

People seek validation from other people instead of the Lord Jesus Christ
