Could you imagine if there was still a Spanish Republic in June 1940? Hitler would have been able to invade without Franco's permission and the Mediterranean would have been a much different conflict for the Allies.

No one is going to understand what really happens in unless they understand that the Republicans were a communist coalition and the "rebels" were nominally a fascist coalition. These terms aren't perfect descriptions of the various dozens of political parties involved but it does make it much more understandable to use those terms because they are correct. There's a reason why the Soviet Union back to the Republicans. The Republican army was the Communist army. There's a reason why Hitler and Mussolini backed general Franco. He was In effect the fascist.
You mention it was A precursor to World War II but it was a precursor to World War II in the sense that A large part of the war was communists fighting fascists ... Like what they had done in Spain.
I know it's a lot more complicated than that but you only have 10 minutes. Cleave that out is to leave something out that is critical to someone understanding what actually happened.
