Dr. Mary Barbera discusses detecting autism in your toddler. Look for these signs and symptoms!

In this video, I talk about the signs of autism in toddlers and 2-year-olds, as well as how to tell if your toddler has autism. Autism is a developmental disorder that affects communication, social interaction, and behavior. Early detection and intervention are crucial for improving outcomes, so it's important to be aware of the early signs and symptoms.
Some of the signs of autism in toddlers include social delays and missing milestones, among many other things. It isn’t always so easy to discern.

Additionally, toddlers with autism may exhibit repetitive behaviors or have difficulty with sensory processing. It's important to note that missing milestones alone does not necessarily mean that a toddler has autism, but it can be a red flag that warrants further evaluation.

So she doesnt actually tell u the signs to look out for like the title of the video would lead u to suggest. Instead she tells u to click links which probably lead to things you have to buy. Sad

If a autistic toddler at 2 is babbling with dada and mama without meaning is that a good sign that speech may develop with help.

Hi If it’s possible can you please reply. I’m from Ireland and my 26 month old has 100 words he can say mama help or white cow for instance. He has bad hand tensing when exited though. I had an appointment for early intervention and they say the 2 red flags are his hand gestures and speech delay even though he has 2 word sentences. They said he could have a speech delay and have a little “quirk” with his hand motions. Other then the 2 red flags he’s no other red Do you think this is normal could he be austic or just delayed.
Thank you

United kingdom - I'm 34; with 3 kids. My 12 yr old boy has confirmed autism. He wasn't properly diagnosed until he was 9 years old.. my daughter whoms 10 yrs old doesn't have it. But our toddler which is a 28 month old still can't speak more than 2 words.

He's the quick summary

He flaps his hands around alot like his big brother did

Speaks only 1x word repeatedly at a time so if today was dadda. That's it allday.

He watches the same shows all the time

Eats the same food all the time

If he wants something I don't get a daddy or something instead he grabs my hands and guides me just like his big brother use to-do

He likes bathing but hates anything but clear water, so why is that an issue.. well we can't wash his head properly without a major panic attack from him.bhe just won't have it.

The cost on finding thingsnti buy to make his life easier is mounting because we're now considering moving home and the mrs parents might move in 😑 its apparently to help with the kids. We will have a much bigger property but now it seems we will be caring for not just 2 but 4x ppl instead.

In the uk we don't really get help from social aspects.. there isn't much support groups about neither abd the ones online usually are private.

It just makes life harder and other parents need to know it's about being prepared early because providing documents to prove autism unless obvious in apparent behaviour is tricky.
