Got tested for d-dimer due to cough and back pain. Results came 520. Prompted me to undergo chest contrast ct and vein doppler. Negative. But still anxious 😅

Oh, thank you so much for your detailed information drs. I feel much relieved after listening to your explanation. My D-Dimer has been high since August Sept and I have been sent for another D-Dimer test today and hope that the results will come out negative this time around. My D-DIMER is 3475, normally it should be < 500. My doctor gave a blood thinner injection and also pills. I used 2 injections every day for 1 week and continued on the pills for two weeks. All my other blood values are normal, but I have been suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease for 2 years, is the condition of my lungs increasing this value? Thanks

Hi I have been sick since sept 2023 seen doctors everywhere went to ER several times including calling 995, all my tests came back normal or almost normal except some weird things.
Have swollen lymph nodes on my neck increasing in numbers.
I got reinfected with covid on Dec 10
Ordered myself a d-dimer on 29/30 dec and now it came back positive 0.7 ug/ml so im rather concerned. Dr suggested a ct pulmonary but with not mandatory and urgent.

Twice in two yrs I've had high d dimer and last year CT scan of chest come back clear now they are sending me again for CT scan on chest if this comes back clear they'll just do what they did last year say it's clear and leave me this is a joke as ive had two high d dimer test in a year shouldn't they investigate why instead of just sending me for one scan then leaving me again I get really bad migraines and pain ova my body and stomach issues but doctors said that fibromyalgia can having headaches and stomache be a part of having raised d dimer ?

I got Covid in September 2021. Since then, my D-dimer has been in the 7-9.5 ug/mL [FEU] (Normal range: below <0.50 ug/mL [FEU]).

Today, it was tested at 9.41 ug/mL [FEU]. This is discouraging to me as I otherwise feel ok, but my DDimer is about 2000% too high. I have no infection. No cancer. No clot. No kidney/liver issues. 43 years old and reasonably healthy. I have a sedentary job, but otherwise I don't feel bad at all. An extensive workup has been done, and my hematologist has ordered yet another whole body scan, but he thinks it's still a residual from the Covid I got 20 months ago.

My only question is can there be potential harm to perpetually, extremely elevated DDimer levels? I've been hovering around 1500% - 2000% too high for almost 2 years.

I don't want to just get on medicine as it currently appears to just be a lab finding, but it does worry me.

What if high levels of d dimer but no signs of clots. Blood work is normal. Kidneys are normal. No infections. I had a ultrasound in my leg. They found nothing. I do have pain in my leg. I've had clots before
