I have one of these. The woman in the shop (before I looked at it) said it was an 'external charger' meaning you could charge your phone whilst out-and-about.

This is just gimmicky, though. I have a charger, a million compatible USB cables, and I still need to plug this thing into a computer. I don't know why anyone would spend money one one of these.
