I usually put it on backwards and give it a little wiggle, that loosens it up to go on easier when i put it on the right way, .

I put it on the pipe backwards. The twist it a little bit. It slides on much better and where you scratched the pipe that is there the stop will go

The tabs are to keep it from falling off after pushing it om 2hen you fold the tabs it sits on it like a loose washer and falls down the pipe. But this is genuis 😂

Use the plastic ones, they are easy to install and do not rust. You can also split them if you need to replace the rusty one. They have a pre split groove that will part if wiggled back and forth...

I do the reverse; make them tighter. Then turn it around backward and slide it on a bit....that 'sets' it for putting it on normally.

Would this work on the shower head ones, they always scratch the spout

So you want it flopping around? Then you caulk it in.

Now tell me where one can find some of those that won't rust within a year or two!

Why wouldn’t you tell them to put silicone or something behind it so it doesn’t constantly move around or come away from the wall or in the worst case scenario which is going to happen the water is going to get behind it and go into the wall. great job on your first day of plumbing.
