FILM DESCRIPTION:
Hoosiers tells the true story of a group of underdogs who become champions. Set in the 1950s, Hoosiers is about a hard-luck, unemployed college basketball coach (Gene Hackman) who gets a chance to coach a small-town Indiana high-school basketball team. Facing resentment from the community and the team itself, Hackman manages to inspire his young athletes, leading them to the state championship with the help of the assistant coach (Dennis Hopper), who happens to be a recovering alcoholic.

This is an excellent film that accurately depicts a small town, high school basketball coach and team in the 1950's. A winning team was certainly the pride of the community. I grew up in such a school/community in the late 1950's. Watching this film brings back many happy memories of those innocent, care-free days. Everything got a lot more complicated after that.

I know Buddy was a complete jerk in this scene, but I love that later on he does everything Coach asks him to do.

I teach a high school class of remedial students who have a hard time passing the exit exams by the state. I've had a few students like the one who gave Dale an attitude and have removed them the same way. They eventually come back and graduate. I'm not patting myself on the back, but sometimes you have to be badass.

I remember seeing this on a HBO and the "Keep your mouth Shut and Listen" Line. My Dad said "I hated coaches like that" and I thought "Sounds a lot like you and my brother." but I kept my mouth shut . RIP pops

Fundamental basketball seems to be a thing of the past. 3 pointers and no defense seems to be the only thing that matters today. No hustle and quick to give up when down is the new norm. It is sad. I look to change that where I can.

I really enjoy seeing these clips, but I really dislike the volume of the loud outro. It's quite annoying to have an average volume clip, and then an outro that makes me want to turn the volume down. Anyone else?
