Thank you so much for this video! This Doctor Who episode touched a lot of people, it was such a wonderful appreciation of an immense makes me feels the most story of Van Gogh's life was the constant love and support that his brother Theo Van Gogh gave him. He never let him down, was always there when Vincent was depressed or believed his art would go nowhere. They wrote letters to each other almost every day. After Vincent died, Theo was so heartbroken he fell in a depression and passed away not long after. And then Theo's wife, who loved Vincent as well, did the incredible work of collecting all of the Vincent's paintings and their letters, and protect them. Because she believed he was a great artist and that his art would be loved some day! There is so much pain in his life, but he was also surrounded by so much love....

As an artist who struggles managing mental health symptoms and the despair of not achieving anything worthwhile in my lifetime, this scene never ceases to move me to tears...

I started crying before they viewed the scene, now it's over & I'm still crying. I will always shed tears over this scene, no matter how many times I see it.

This episode of Doctor Who has been my favorite since I first saw it. I love Van Gogh, and I love that they honored him so beautifully. And to have Bill Nighy? Masterpiece. Can’t leave out Tony Curran who portrayed Vincent so, so wonderfully.

Vincent Van Gogh has always been very special to me. Not only is he my favorite artist, but I actually look just like him and struggle with depression as well. The craziest coincidence is I once bought a painting of Japanese women at a yard sale because I liked it. Turns out it is an exact copy of the painting in the background of Van Gogh's "Self Portrait with Bandaged Ear".

I can't tell you how many times I've rewatched that scene...

"For me, Van Gogh is the greatest painter of all. Certainly the most famous of the great painters across all eras. And the most beloved. His mastery of color - simply unique. He transformed the great pain, the agony of his life full of suffering into ecstatic beauty. Pain is easy to depict, but to depict full of passion and pain the ecstasy, joy and glory of our world, no one has done that before him and perhaps no one ever will again. In my opinion, this strange, wild man who wandered lonely through the fields of Provence is not only the greatest painter the world has seen, I think he is also one of the greatest men who ever lived."

Doctor Who is such an overlooked show in so many ways. There are many powerful moments like this one. Been watching it since I was 5 years old when the new series started in 2005. Was a massive part of my childhood and it means a great deal to me. Glad you were able to share this beautiful scene with them! Love from Wales!

I have watched & rewatched this particular episode of Dr. Who and every single time tears just stream down my face. Oh if we could only really bring Van Gogh to us now…. I know in my heart it would go just like this. This episode was a masterpiece just like Vincent’s paintings. ❤

This episode of Dr Who resonates with so many because not only is this a scene of someone with the ability to give another struggling man a look at how much positivity their life blessed the world despite their life being so tragic and hard, it also gives a catharsis to the viewer who may be struggling with something similar whether for themselves or a loved one who doesn’t see the bigger effects they have on the world for those near them. That however small we feel our lives are, and insignificant in the moment, our life will affect someone else in some way some day if we simply try to live. Will we become famous for our story to be told accurately like Van Gogh, or will we be simply inspiration for a cautionary tale? Either way, no one’s life is insignificant as long as they try to live. I wish I could have a similar moment with my brother in law to show him how much we miss him now, and how hurt he left us when he took his own life.

What an interesting clip to show them! I loved how they all understood what was happening in the scene even though they didn’t understand the words; good job to them and the excellent actors! Great job translating and explaining, Adnan!

oh this video was lovely! i love that scene so much. i'd really love to see an episode of them reacting to his art, where they could look at it more closely. i think the WAY he painted was so vibrant, and it's harder to see while so small. he used dozens of colors in small strokes and i love just looking at the brushstrokes sometimes. also, having them react to pointillism (making paintings out of many many many dots) in general would be wonderful! my favorite van gogh paintings could be considered pointillism, but he did also do other brushwork styles.

Some museum's (atlest in the netherlands that i know of) have put digital tours online. It might be worth it showing them that. Maybe even make it a series and do 1 museum a month. I think they will love the art and stories behind them.

The new setup is awesome. So nice to look at and interesting to explore. I feel i learn about your culture just by looking at the background 😅 really well done. Also the new conversation style in the reaction is do much better. I'm glad you're no longer shy showing yourself in the video and hosting your reactors on camera. Best wishes from Europe 💖

Such perceptive old guys. They understood so much from the acting alone. It was well done of course, but it was still good to see they understood Van Gogh so well.

As an artist myself, this episode and particularly this scene affects me with tears every time that I see it. Although, I don't think that my own work will see the future that Van Gogh's had. I know very well of the depression that he is portrayed of having. It can get bad. After this episode was shown, there was an announcement on screen of help lines for anyone who has issues with depression. I have not had professional help and have almost reached the other side in winning the battle. Others may not be so well placed in the fortitude that I have had. I urge them, that if you feel that you do need help, to find it. It may help save you. Sometimes, anything, even the smallest thing, can make a difference.
