I bought the Mpd226. I love it because you can edit the presets without being on your computer so that's really handy when I'm using my iPad and Beatmaker 3.

Thanks for the thoughtful review. I've been looking at the Akai and the Presonus Atom mostly to use with Addictive Drums. Decided to go with the Akai as the Atom would be overkill for a guitar player just looking to do a little finger drumming. I love your hat, BTW. Born and raised there and remember 1979 well. There was a bar on 14th at Cloverdale on my way to work that didn't change their sidewalk sign for a year after the Sonics won. ;^)

Thanks for the vid. I’m wishing all major controller companies (Akai, M-Audio, Arturua etc) made iOS editors. Trying to not have to buy a laptop just to set up my controllers. FYI, Audio Veek makes a MIDI FX called De Ghost that is supposed to help with ghost notes from pad controllers. Haven’t tried it yet on my MPD 18. Thanks again! Aloha.

I’ve had a lot of inconsistency with the 218 MIDI, Beatmaker3 and my iPad Pro. I switched to Maschine and haven’t looked back.

I like the mpd and I connected to my mpc one and works as second pads for 2 hand finger drumming ps turn off aftertouch if you get double tiggering

great video! with the double note thing ... theres some dope info online about some clever fixes for that. Some involve taking off the back and sticking a couple strips of electrical tape under each pad..which stops the double notes AND makes the pads less hard/stiff in general, so they'll have a little more play. Also, another fix is to just adjust the screws on the back [that attach the red base to the unit], apparently it's sort of like 'tuning' the controller. The screws adjust the travel in the pads so you have more or less depending on how much you tighten or loosen. I know for sure someone posted some pics on the amazon page for the 218 but there's more info elsewhere.

When I go into Ableton my MPD218 C#1, D#1, F#1, G#1, A#1, C#2, D#2, pads don't respond when I put drum samples on them or try to chop samples idk if there is something wrong with my set up could you offer some help?

Great video man. I appreciate you taking the time to put this together. Got 2 questions if you can help. First, how do you fix the PAD 8 & PAD 12 triggering together rathan separate? Second, is the editor still available for download ? I'm on Windows.
