Avoid Soy If You Have Thyroid Problems

Should you avoid soy if you have thyroid problems? Probably, here are 3 reasons why.

#1. Most sources of soy are highly processed and genetically modified.
#2. Soy has an estrogenic effect.
#3. Soy may act as a goitrogen and impact iodine uptake and utilization.

Been vegan for years (but unhealthy, processed, sweets etc. also stress), recently found out my TSH was 15. I switched to 70-80% raw vegan food, gluten free and soy free due to my research. Also intermittent fasting. I'm pretty much symptoms free. But it's not bad idea to test estrogen levels in laboratory. Will do it definitely. I'm also underweight. I ate a lot of soy before.

I'm going through the change so my estragon is super low. I have never been a soy fan but it was either that or birth control pills and No Thank You there😝. However, I do agree that soy isn't the best so I'm only using organic, non GMO fermented soy. It has helped so much with hot flashes and insomnia 👍

Hi Dr Childs,
I have stopped using syntroid since last year and I only use your supplements. I reduced intake slowly until my body was OK to let syntroid go.

I haven't checked my level, but I have energy and looks young. I just need to work on my diet.
Thank you so much
