I came here researching about the use of Activated carbon and zeolite in aquariums.

I was confused as to which of them should i be using in my aquarium for ammonia control.

Now I'm going with zeolite after watching this!

i'm a bit concerned about the smoke test now,
it's hard to tell as it could just be the Zerolite working straight away but the second smoke test the volume of smoke going into the Zerolite flask looks less then the flask of the activated carbon, so this test isn't 100% accurate as you need the exact amount in each flask to make this test fair, so you needed to suck the cigarette with a vacuum pump into a bottle for X amount of time to keep it fair or better yet set up an apparatus that sucks the cigarette directly that passes through the media to another viewing chamber and this would clearly illustrate the media filtering the smoke.

i slowed down the video to .25 to try and see the amount of smoke going in and that's when i noticed the when you try it the second time in the minute that passed before you start the second smoke test the activated carbon flask looks like it has a lot less smoke in it then the Zerolite its very strange its like you blew more smoke into the zerolite in the minute of video you cut out OR the zerolite didn't hold onto the smoke after a minute.. the flask goes from almost clear to full of smoke again... and the carbon looks like it did a way better job at holding onto the smoke so in this small test id call the carbon the winner ????

you would need to run the test again with a better setup like i mentioned and then let the video continue for a longer period to confirm which media holds into the smoke the best as well as the which one clears the air the quickest
