Tomorrow I’m one week out from my ACDF C5-C7. Thanks for posting your story. Helps to gauge my own healing process.

Thank you so much for logging your journey. I have a 2 level acdf scheduled for June 12th and it’s something that has been weighing heavily on my mind. Your videos have helped put my mind at ease

Thanks for info having c-5-7 in one week . Info on walking good for I currently walk 4 miles a day and hope to start walking again as soon as possible. Currently by time I finish my walk I can't lift right arm and terrible nerve pain. Praying for relief. Also if I try to sleep with pillow my right foot goes numb. Take pillow away and neck flat numbness goes away. Hope I didn't wait to long I'm 68 year old man.

Hi, your videos are very helpful. I had a car accident in May and I have a tear and herniated disks in my neck. I'm having the acdf surgery on 11/30. I'm scared but you made me feel better to what will happen after that. I hope that you are doing well now.

Looking great! At 1 wk were you still in a collar? I am 4 days post opp and the aspen collar annoys my soul. So hard to get comfortable and I wake up every hour

I had a four-level ACDF. The spasm flow for the next two weeks was extremely painful. Swallowing food was hard even though taking a small bite, I had to drink after each bite to get it to go down. My voice was scratchy. Swallowing my own saliva was difficult. I'm now five months after surgery and the nerves are continuing to reconnect and sending a painful shock every now and then. There are still times I feel the muscles in my neck are choking me, and still have numbness in my neck. I'm here to say, that a lot of these videos are entirely bullshit. I'm appalled that these people most likely did not have the amount I had done. Stop lying to people about the pain, and tell people what to expect even after the surgery. My surgeon was completely great and told me how things would feel afterward and man was he right! Things should be better after three months however individuals may take more time to heal. Physical therapy is highly recommended after your first post-surgery with your surgeon. Maybe I should make a video letting those who are getting this surgery with multiple levels and tell people what to truly expect. My issues were caused by being deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan. Either way, honesty is better than this fluffy nonsense people on YouTube are putting on here.

Hi, yes still as helpful as the day you made the video! . So helpful for anyone (me!) wrestling these acdf demons! I hope you are doing good and back to tennis. I think managing expectations and really grasping the reality of how long recovery really is going to be is the bottom line on making an informed decision. Interesting that I have not found any British testimonies on this (yet) Thank you. From a 50 something UK acdf c5 in waiting. Sneezing with fusion I cannot imagine... Allergy sufferer!!! I can also relate to the weather ruling the pain/symptoms too that's me exactly. Again thanks.

I forgot to ask you…could you sleep laying down or have to sleep in a recliner? I am concerned about the possibility of dizziness…did they give you specific meds for that?

Barry, thank you for your videos which actually it became one of the reason I continue with decision to do ACDF. I got my ACDF 4 weeks ago and one of post surgery effect is my palms become hyper-sensitive. I feel hurt when it senses cold and warm. I just want to ask to you or other who have gone through ACDF, do you experience the same? And what can we do about it? Any therapy to get this sensation over as soon as possible? Thanks to anyone who can share.
