To prevent blowout when cutting out the hole for the handle use a Forstner bit, drill down half way through, turn board over and complete your cut.

Put a piece of wood under that handle when you’re drilling through the handle to prevent that tear out.

I'd recommend instead of final sanding, use a scraper. Leaves a smooth, dust free, surface.

When using the paddle bit to drill as soon as the tip pokes through the other side drill from the other side to avoid tear out. If round over routing you may not be able to conceal all the tear out.

Use a Forstner bit instead of that paddle bit and you’ll have a lot less blowout on the back. Also using a backer board helps.
