I'd say both have their good advantages that make them unique, but I'd always want the classic dirty and rock sound of the 58

I can’t act like the 19 isn’t overall better with the clarity, but the fuzz of the 58 is so unique and funky sounding you can’t not love it.

That was an awesome sequence at the end--whoever stitched the clips together did it flawlessly. Kudos. And I couldn't tell a difference in the sound between the vintage and the reproduction.

At first I thought the 2019 had a creamier tone, then I noticed in your opening riffs you had the 58 on the bridge position pickup and the 2019 on the middle position. In the closing riffs you had them both on the same pickup and I couldn't hear a difference. So, if you're a collector, get the 58. If you're a player, get the 2019.

The '58 has a bit more top-end, but the 2019 sounds really smooth.

OMG Marty, please do a video of a '59 vs. a '19 R9, let people comment on the oh so different sound, but then do another video where you show that it was the SAME guitar, except someone relic'd it between video takes. Or even simpler, switch the Audio, haha. Everyone will love the '59 when they're really hearing the R9.

Am I mad to say that even though the '19 Les Paul sounds a bit more pronounced and balanced, the child in me wants that '58 every single time.

Personally, I'd go with the 2019 Custom as far as playability goes, I like the neck profile better.

I picked up a Les Paul Standard 50s, heritage cherry sunburst. The gold top is amazing. I’d prefer the 2019 over the 1958.
