I tried the no-buy trend for a year - here’s how it affected me.

To clarify on some of the topics in the video: not every month of the year was no-buy, some of them were low-buy months with a maximum budget of $75. But on the whole I tried to never go over $40-50/pm :)
I almost made this video month ago without thinking much about it, but scrapped the idea because I thought it was an irrelevant topic - now I’ve been noticing people talk more about the anti-influencing, de-influencing, the no-buy trend, and low-buy trends like the 75 hard style challenge. The conversation around consuming and shopping less is becoming more prominent, and I wanted to tell you guys about my experience as a frugal person who budgets every month. Whether it’s fashion, date nights, or shopping for anything really, due to my life circumstances I’ve had to completely change the way I live and operate. These changes are both internal and external, so if you want to find out if you should try these anti-consumption trends, stick around for the whole video :)

Hi all! First of all, thank you so much for the kind comments and the support, it means so much to me 💕
If you're having trouble with knowing your personal style, buyer's remorse, or buying trendy clothing that you don't end up wearing a lot, I recommend watching the following videos to help you:

The losing friends thing is something I didn't think about, but it's true. Some only want to hang out for an excuse to eat out/go for drinks, etc. I am not completely guilt-free in that regard, either. There are friends I only bother to see in person if we're eating or seeing a movie.

I am working on my buyer's remorse... I am very easily influenced. There's a lot of clothing I have purchased thinking I would love it until I realized it was great for selfies but not actually wearing... As a cosplayer, I have a bad habit of hoarding clothes not for me but for a character, too. Eeesh. My closet and dresser are always a disaster, and it seems like every good purge is followed by a bunch of little shopping sprees that fill it right back up. I am definitely trying to buy less, as I find I have less and less disposable income as well as space, so I am going to use your video as inspiration! ><

I try to do something similar as well, but I've noticed that it's harder for me to spend less when it's winter. The weather is gloomy, I don't feel like socializing, and I just spend more time going through online shops. 😵 I barely buy anything during the summer, maybe it compensates for my winter shopping sprees. 😅

This video was very insightful! I wanna buy some clothes that I actually like, and not because it’s trending!

(Looking at your background) Miyazaki also had a pretty hardcore anti-consumerist views (you could probably sense them from his films)

Wow Jemi this video resonates so deeply with me! I am such a consumer and a deal with buyers remorse constantly. I wanna be more mindful of what I purchase and make sure it actually sparks joy before I “add to cart”. Thank you for sharing your journey and advice, I can’t wait for your next video! 🤍✨
