buying and supporting local companies is a good thing no matter where you are. no need to support greedy multinational companies.

So China today is like Japan back then when it transitioned to become the producer of quality yet affordable products.

"Brand value" by those legacy western brands means a profit margin so high that sometimes is ridiculous. On the other hand, developing countries workers don't get their fair share of the profit. We can't let our hard working humans stay in the forever poverty spiral.

just use whatever's better?! 💀

local or foreign brands, ultimately the product that offers better value should be chosen. standing for either side is real dumb esp since that's not going to make these companies create better products.

I think the issue is that a lot of companies in china cut corners with their products. Most of the time when I got my purchases online that's made in china, they will likely have noticeable defects. I think so long as we can weed out good companies, Its definitely worth buying from them. Currently eyeing Ugreen for technology related stuff as their product seemed to be of quality.

Luxury goods does not always mean quality .. well done on the local efforts

Actually, Chinese made has been quickly becoming better than those from other countries. And this phenomenon is not new. When the Japanese started competing in western products, they quickly overtook their western competitors, causing protectionist pushbacks from the west. One example is Seiko. When Seiko started beating European made time pieces in accuracy and quality, they banned them from competing.

The LV company drop down 14% of revenue on 2024H1 because of weak consumption in China, It really ironic that luxury products hold same quality but multiple price.

so, does thatt mean local consumption is getting fixed? Because people are saying China's in crisis because local consumption is low. But this is saying the opposite, so, which one is it?

Bleak global economy makes most consumers to be price sensitive. That will be a long time.

There is only one correct way to live happy in life.
Buy from everywhere and buy whatever you want and can afford. Lastly dont politicise and think of politics when you are buying. You will definitely be happy compared to most of the commenters in here. They overthink too much.
