Biggest Regrets Of My Engineering Career (mechanical)

Little cliche, but maybe there'll be some value in here for students and younger engineers. Just some things I may have done differently.

How about a video which lists the things an engineer should know as a minimum, I know it varies by discipline but still will be appreciated

Regrets will be there. But you bounced back on your feet that’s good . Currently in my 2nd year of Engineering school at 28 years old . 😌

The cardboard sign at the end said "will do thermodynamics for food" 😂

Speaking as a dual student in mechanical engineering in Germany (5. semester), I am glad to have seen the theoretical side in the university and the practise at work. First engineering seemed really frightening to me because of the incredibly diverse course content. I thought that I would never be capable of using all the theoretical stuff in practise.
But big suprise! Neither can the qualified engineers, who work for several years.
Engineering or studying in general is more of learning how to properly learn new stuff and adapt fastly to new problems.
Now I really enjoy being at work and facing challenging tasks. Learning from long serving engineers is the most valuable experience one can get on his way to become an engineer himself. To all freshmans: Just be persisent! Everything is gonna be just fine

Being an engineer is an amazing feeling! The life of an engineer is full of good and great things. However, there may be a few things that we often overlook and therefore, become regrets at end of our career. Thanks Wissam for a top notch video as always. Very relatable to my own regrets :(

Hey Wissam. I'm a Mechanical Engineering student. I'm a senior transitioning to grad school. I just wana say that you inspired me in times I wanted to give up on my undergrad career. Thank you for the positivity. Like you said, your career is way more interesting than YouTube but you still post what engineers and engineering students want to see.

That was pretty soul searching. Good discussion.
My 3 regrets as an engineer:
1) Pushed harder to get my chartered status.
2) Done an Open University course in statistics (I can still do one or something similar)
3) Moved my family to Europe before Brexit.

With my Spring semester starting today this video serves as great motivation. Thanks for keeping it real! Good luck to all my fellow engineering majors!

Loved the very real content and the different direction you did with this video (visually and photographically speaking), keep up the great content Wissam!

1st year meche and it was definitely very overwhelming for me. In high school I never had to study and just always did great and always had A’s. However it is eye opening in the first weed out classes. (Calc and Physics)

It’s interesting to learn what it was like for others but also I don’t think you should have so many regrets. You did them but that’s what got you to where you are today and if you want to change it now is when you can, not the past.

Good video!

Thanks for your videos! I'm going to college for ME with a minor in robotics next year. It's so neat to hear your experiences as an engineer, as well as learning from your mistakes. I appreciate it!

I don't regret about my gaps.I had one 6 years ago. DUring that time I found boring jobs that would be a waste of time, so I decided to wait for something I was interested in.
