When I was in elementary school I would button just the top button of my sweater. When I got hot I would take just my arms out and wear it like a cape.

I'm sticking with the regular vest shape. That never goes out of style

I really hate the round neck sweater vests,
V necks look much more flattering and chic

My main grip with vests is you look goofy af unless they’re properly tailored. I feel like these are the kind of garments that only work if they’re tailored to your measurements or at least made properly, not the case for fast fashion brands most people buy from.

Nah. The round neck looks too mother superior.

The button and slit vests are giving Shrek.

The slits cute but the v neck is so much more appealing to me personally. It had some interest with shape

Crew necks only look flattering on about half the population. For the rest of us, it makes us look heavier and wider than we are.
I hate that they’re on trend right now.

high neck lines makes me feel so elegant and lengthen my short torso

100% agree - also, regular suit vests imo are here to stay even if they're not front page! They're a classic menswear-inspired piece, and i think the v neck silhouette with the cinched waist can work for a wide range of body types. They can also be tailored for a custom fit similar to suits - I've had darts added to mine to fit my bust, seams taken in and hems taken up.

💡That vest with a slit up the side is a "tabard" which is a medieval article of clothing!

This is a slight exaggeration, but if you look up "tabard vest" online then you can find things like that. Basically tabards can be a piece of fabric with a hole at the top for your head to go through and perhaps ties at the side (no sleeves). The fabric just falls over your front and back without completely enclosing your torso

It was often used to show family crests, such as when knights needed to identify themselves on the battlefield, or when servants were identifying themselves as workers at a feast (they would wear the crest of the noble family they served so the guests could identify them easily. Plus I guess it made the noble family look fancy)

We still use tabards in some work uniforms and occasionally in fashion :)
I learned about some medieval fashions recently and the tabard was my favorite for its simplicity, and how lovely it can look when layered

The flared vests could look really cute with high waisted pencil skirts.

I can't be buying new trendy clothes when a new trend comes

As a girl with wider shoulders the round neck gives me nightmares. Great way to feel and look boxy and constricted in winter! Just wear a normal sweater and cut the ugliness

I’ve had my eye on the long vest for a minute 😂 only because I’m an inverted triangle and that silhouette is more flattering on my body type as I need more waist definition than your typical suit vest.

However you did deinfluence me on the design. I’ll be mindful to get something fairly classic and understated, like those reformation vests you showed.

I have to politely disagree. As a *curvier* lady, the last style of vest with the cinched waist, high neck, and flared bottom is soooo perfect for me in the office. I just got one and I got so many compliments. But it also doesn’t show any tummy.
But buttoning a cardigan at the top just makes it ride up into my neck and it falls open outside/around the *ladies* — it never sits right.

I think these will be trendy next year in Australia. The shops are full of those v neck vests right now!!!
